Living in the sticks is all well and good but sometimes a girl just needs a fix of the city and has the genetic urge to shop, particularly in the extremely girly sections of a big department store, the likes of David Jones and Myers.
So off to Chadstone I went in search of that elusive lipstick…
First stop was Country Road (they had a great sale on), poked my head in every shoe shop I passed, nothing said BUY ME. So the next stop was LIPSTICK – I just can’t help myself. All my girlfriends would say you don’t need another lipstick but I always need another lipstick!
I was at the lipstick counter trying on colours, and in the midst of the conversation with the very nice young lady serving me, I was saying how I used to only wear Poppy and how I miss her lipstick. She then laughed and informed me that the lipstick I was trying on was none other than a Poppy, she is known as Lipstick Queen now!
My day was complete and 2 lipsticks later I was happy to head back to Fish Creek with no where to go and wear my lipstick – but since when did that have anything to do with it!
You may ask why do I love lipstick queen. I have always loved a mat lipstick, I have always loved the 1920’s – 1940’s and Poppy was the only lipstick for me that replicated that era but still in the moment of now. My current favourites are Rose Sinner, Coral Sinner and Saint Bright Natural.
I still have 2 lipsticks which would have to be 10+ years old, and I still wear them occasionally.
You can check out her range at lipstickqueen.com
If there is anyone out there that loves Poppy/Lipstick queen, I would love to here about your favourites, so please leave a comment below.
