I have always loved wearing cotton and my first trip to India reinforced this. Cotton is a fibre that is versatile, cool to wear and washes well. It has been spun since ancient times. It is used for ready to wear fashion, homewares, curtains and furnishings.
Europe fell in love with cotton after an English woman sent a few block printed Chintz with all their beautiful colours and patterns back to England as presents. The Indians have been hand painting/block printing cotton, calico and chintz for a very long time.
The colour from the Indian vegetable dyes seemed to be richer than that of the European vegetable colour.
I love all the original Indian Patterns eg: Paisley and Mughal floral designs.
What I mostly love are the crisp white cottons, be they – muslin, calico or polished cotton. I am in love with Indian cotton.
Have a look at my Princess Dress – Soft muslin cotton, easy to wear and machine washable. I wear mine all the time in summer and it still looks crisp and white.
