Don’t worry about the travel iron!

While staying at Amarya Haveli, I decided to go for an early morning walk through Hauz Khaz and came across two men ironing a shirt for a man while he waited. In the more affluent areas of Delhi you can walk out into the street and have your ironing done for the day.

What made this so interesting to me was the way the ironing was done…They dig a hole in the ground which they burn charcoal in, then they put this huge old iron on to the hot coal and then do the ironing when it is hot.

The iron itself looks 100 years old and extremely heavy, which is why it might be a mans job!
