This piece is the most challenging hollow form I have turned thus far due to the large number of voids in the wall of the vessel combined with the burl having grown around 4 different large rocks that I had to dig out and remove from the interior of the piece during the hollowing process

When they built the Kephart addition several years ago they had to cut down an old Japanese Red Maple and they had saved a section of the gnarly old trunk

I love the wavy grain pattern in Russian Olive as well as the light colored precambrian layer just under the bark it creates such a nice contrast to the wood underneath.
