The steel shafts have a built in hex boss in front of the ferrule that makes it possible to use a wrench on stubborn fasteners. The steel shaft runs through the handle which also facilitates the transfer of force to the screwdriver tip. The beechwood handles have a very comfortable triangular cross section and are stained black which keeps dirt and grime
